Investigating the Role of Economic Sanctions on the National Security Emphasizing the US Sanctions against the Islamic Republic of Iran

Abstract

 Since economic sanctions change the State security and its form and dimensions fundamentally, and in case of lack of attention and failure to manage its many destructive impacts including escalation of class conflict, polarization of the society and the threat of the society security due to unplanned access to information and communications
technology (ICT) and the threat of the society’s values and allocation of capitals without paying attention to people’s needs, regardless of the negative impacts, Iran’s defensive policy has been codified and conducted in a manner that it provided such positive impacts as creating the Resistance Economy and self-sufficiency and production independence, Therefore; the role of economic sanctions are two-faceted. From one part, they cause economic problems and unfavorable consequences and from the the other part, in some cases and fields, they contribute to Iran’s independence and under such tough conditions, they contribute to the optimization of national security, as well. This research is primarily intended to study the manner and intensity of the effect of sanction tools on security and defense policy employed by the Islamic Republic of Iran.
  People, in line with informing managers and policy-makers about the critical situation of the sanctions to implement plannings and policy-making are more logical. Employing economic sacnctions against Iran is considered as the most important threat tool from the US part. This fundamental research, with an emphasis on the descriptive-analytical method, attempts to review Iran’s defenseive policy in the sanctions era. The results of the research show that sanctions and trade ban which have been imposed after JCPOA, has challenged the national security, but Iran’s defensive policy and the strategies employed by our authorities have diminished the negative impacts of the sacntions to some extent
