Media and social security: a Meta- analysis study

Abstract

Today, the media play an undeniable role in our lives. The aim of the present study is to examine the relationship between media and social security. The method of the present study is quantitative and meta-analysis. To examine the studies using the meta-analysis method, 21 studies conducted between 2013 and 2023 were collected. According to the meta-analysis criteria, 14 articles were selected from among the studies that examined the relationship between media and social security and were published in reputable domestic scientific journals. Each of these studies was conducted quantitatively and with a survey approach and have reliable measures. CMA software was also used to analyze the data. The findings of the present study indicate that the effect size is not homogeneous and the publication bias of the selected studies is not biased. The results of this study show that the effect size of media use on social security is 0.274, which is low to moderate according to Cohen's interpretive system. Overall, the results of this study have shown that the media have a low to moderate impact on social security.
